Two crimes compared

Two
crimes that shocked public opinion, crimes whose victims were two students.
Different places and circumstances, but the victims shared a similar young
age, their status as university students, and a previously quiet and
irreproachable life. On
November 1, 2007, the English student Meredith Kercher, known to her
friends as Mez, was killed in her apartment. It would become the first
“globalized” murder case, given the different nationalities of the
accused, including the American Amanda Knox and the Italian Raffaele
Sollecito. On
August 13, 2007, in Garlasco, the body of Chiara Poggi, a model student,
was found. Her boyfriend, Alberto Stasi, discovered the body and was later
accused of the crime but acquitted because the evidence collected against
him was deemed insufficient. The only charge remaining against him
concerned the possession of child pornography, which, according to the
prosecution, would have been the triggering cause of the murder. Mez
has the Sun in the 1st House, together with Neptune and Venus: Mez is a
sunny person who attracts male attention thanks to her considerable charm.
The Moon, in the 7th House—the house of open enemies—and in Cancer,
clearly indicates conflicts with her roommate Amanda Knox, herself a
Cancer. This Moon is also the ruler of the 8th House, the house of death:
it seems to confirm that Mez died at the hands of a woman, an open enemy.
The second ruler of the 8th House is the Sun itself, placed in the 1st
House: this indicates the possibility of suffering violence leading to
death. Saturn and Mercury are in the 12th House and, as we will also see
in Chiara Poggi’s chart, the 6-12 axis appears to play a very relevant
role in these charts, and it is worth remembering that this is the “axis
of trials.” Let
us now move to Chiara Poggi’s chart. Here the ruler of the Ascendant,
Venus, is in the 12th House—the house of trials and hidden enemies—together
with the Sun and Mars, the latter being in aspect to the malefic Saturn.
Moreover, Mars is also opposed to Jupiter, between the 12th and 6th Houses.
The ruler of Chiara’s 4th House, the Moon, is prominently placed at the
Midheaven: the end of her life sadly coincided with her exposure in all
the media. Furthermore, the Moon is conjunct the nodal axis, particularly
the South Node, while in Mez’s case the South Node is perfectly conjunct
Mars and Pluto, rulers of the 4th House—the end of life. Chiara’s
Moon refers to the sign of Cancer, and perhaps for this reason her destiny
was tied to natives of this sign, such as her boyfriend Alberto Stasi. Mez,
on the other hand, with her South Node conjunct the rulers of Aries/Scorpio,
had her fate connected to natives of those signs (it is worth recalling
here that Raffaele Sollecito is indeed an Aries). Alberto
Stasi’s chart shows a rather unsettling conjunction in the 8th House,
composed of Mars, Mercury, and the Sun, opposed to Neptune in the 2nd
House—and this Neptune is conjunct the South Node. Amanda’s
chart is almost a mirror image of Mez’s: she has the Ascendant where Mez
has the Descendant; Mez has a strong 1st House while Amanda has a strong
7th House, composed of Saturn, the Moon, and Uranus. The nickname “Foxie
Knoxie,” highlighting the slyness of a fox, suits well her strong Gemini
component, while the square between Mars and Pluto suggests a certain
destructive streak in the American girl’s character. Sollecito’s
chart, in turn, is extremely similar to Mez’s but shifts the emphasis
toward negative friendships (Saturn in the 11th House) and a Mars in the
12th House, which makes him somewhat submissive to his partner. The Solar Returns of Mez and Chiara are quite interesting.
Erected
for Perugia the first and for Garlasco the second. Mez’s Solar Return
for 2006 shows the Ascendant in the 1st House, the Sun in the 11th House (often
connected to death) together with Mercury and Pluto, indicating a very
critical year. Even the one for 2007 would not have promised anything good,
emphasizing dangers and major difficulties, as it features Mars in the 1st
House, a Stellium as well as the Ascendant in the 7th House, and the Moon/Saturn
conjunction in the 4th House (one’s home). In
Chiara’s case, the Solar Return Ascendant for 2007 falls in the Radix
5th House (affective life), while Saturn falls in the 12th House. We also
find Mars in the 6th House and the Sun in the 8th House. Stasi’s
2009/10 Solar Return places the Solar Return Ascendant in the Radix 3rd
House: studies and new projects will be the main theme of the year, while
the Sun and Mercury in the 5th House bring the focus back to sexual life:
there is talk of a new girlfriend by his side but also of another trial
for child pornography material, as some new files were recently found on
his computer. We
conclude this excursus on violent death with a quick look at another crime
that fascinated public opinion: the Via Poma murder, in which Simonetta
Cesaroni died. Here too, as if by chance, we find a very harsh aspect
between Mars and Saturn—a square—where Mars is located in the 4th
House, the end of life, while Saturn is in the 8th House, the House of
Death. All three of these cases had in common a violent death by a bladed
weapon, a female victim, and a story that was never fully clarified. Text
